BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Don Ellwanger hails from Delaware. He graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Don rose to the rank of sea captain of supertankers at Sun Oil Company. He worked for them 11 years.
In 1977 he married Georgine, a graduate of Philadelphia Biblical Universary, and Christian school teacher. They now have three grown children, Don, Heather and Scott. Georgine has been also been a preschool teacher at Ft. Drum Army Base and a Christian Education director.
During this time Don felt God calling him into the ministry. He left the sea and went to Westminster Theological Seminary where he received his M. of Div. Degree and then Dr. of Ministry degree with a major in Biblical Counseling. He is also a certified counselor.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Don pastored at Grace Baptist Church in Watertown, NY for 11 years. He then was an Assoc. Pastor doing counseling, teaching and heading up several assimilation ministries for 4 years. Don has been the pastor here at Community Bible since 2003.
MISSION PURPOSE
God has burdened Don’s heart with a love for people and the need to preach the whole Word of God. He feels that God’s word can speak to every area of our lives. Pastor Don got his doctrate in Biblical counseling to enable him to better apply the Word and shepherd his flock.
